Doonhamer 10K : Dock Park, Dumfries
The Doonhamer 10K is scheduled for 30 August 2026 and is organised by Dumfries Harriers. The race starts and finishes in Dock Park beside the River Nith and follows riverside pathways, crossing the Nith several times via Buccleuch Street, Suspension and Kirkpatrick MacMillan bridges. The course is officially measured and certified.
The event is operated under UK Athletics rules and has a runner limit of 290. Entries are priced with different rates for affiliated and non-affiliated runners; the entry fee includes chip timing, an on-course water stop, first aid, kilometre markers, marshals, and access to car parking and toilet facilities. Every finisher receives a souvenir medal and there are prizes for 1st to 3rd male and female plus category prizes for Veteran 40, 50, 60 and 70. Technical event T-shirts are available to order at entry for £10 in unisex and female fits, sizes XS to XXXL; T-shirt selections cannot be changed after entry transfer.
The route is mostly on footpaths and pavements, with a section on public road at Kingholm Quay. Marshals will staff key points and the race will operate a lead bicycle and a last runner sweeper. Planned groundworks may require use of an alternate route; no refunds will be issued if the alternate route is used. On finishing, runners receive a medal, water and a goody bag, and first aid is available. Registration takes place at the Dockfoot end of Dock Park.
