Dumfries Half Marathon
The Dumfries Half Marathon is a road race organized by the Dumfries Running Club. The event takes participants through the countryside of Dumfriesshire on an accurately measured course. The race covers a distance of 13.1 miles and is held under a Scottish Athletics permit.
The route starts at the Dumfries and Galloway College campus. From the starting point, the course leads toward Glencaple, providing views of the Criffel hill before returning to finish at the college. The path is marked at every mile and includes multiple water stations. Participant tracking is managed via chip timing, and the course is supported by marshals.
The event features several facilities for participants at the campus, including car parking, toilets, changing rooms, and showers. Refreshments are available both before and after the race. All finishers receive a medal and a goody bag. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers, as well as winners in age categories including 40+, 50+, and 60+. Team prizes are also available.
The race has a time limit of three hours. In accordance with UK Athletics rules, only bone-conducting headphones are permitted during the event. Registration is open to the public with a specific cap on the number of participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
