Ultra Scotland 50
Ultra Scotland 50 is a single day trail race covering 56 miles along the Southern Upland Way in southern Scotland. The route starts in St John's Town of Dalry and finishes at Moffat Rugby Club, passing through forests, valleys and upland terrain with a listed elevation of 2447 m. The event has 400 places and an overall cut off of 20 hours.
The course is waymarked as part of the Southern Upland Way and uses checkpoints along the route. Two checkpoints are water only and some checkpoint locations are inaccessible to supporters and crews for safety reasons. All checkpoints require entrants to check in; failure to do so leads to disqualification. Indoor checkpoints offer hot food and a medical or first aid presence.
Entrants must be at least 20 years old, in good health and must have completed an organised marathon before race day. A GPS tracker provided by the organiser is part of the mandatory kit and live online tracking is available during the race.
Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and is subject to random checks; required items include a hardcopy Southern Upland Way map, waterproof coat with sealed seams, compass, long sleeved base layer, minimum 1 litre water capacity, fully charged mobile phone, emergency blanket, headtorch (min 75 lumens), backup light (min 25 lumens), emergency rations of at least 500 calories, whistle, waterproof trousers, warm hat and gloves. Dropbag and optional return coach services are available with restrictions and advance booking requirements. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
