Thieveley Pike Fell Race

Thieveley Pike Fell Race is a senior fell race organised by Clayton-le-Moors Harriers near Cliviger, Burnley. The course is classed AS and covers 4.3 miles (7 km) with about 1310 feet (400 m) of ascent. The route is flagged and marshaled.

Registration is at St John’s Church Hall, Holme, Chapel-in-Cliviger, BB10 4SU, grid ref SD875285. Entry fee is £6 for FRA members or £8 for non members. Entries on the day are available at the same fees. There will be no junior races for 2025.

The route starts in the field beside the Ram Inn and follows the Mary Towneley Loop to Scout Farm. A short steep climb leads onto moorland that levels toward a ruin at CP4. After crossing fields the course returns to rough moorland for the climb to the Pike, then follows a fence to the trig point. Runners encounter a fast grassy descent, a shorter technical drop to a fell gate, a young plantation, a final steep climb back to the ruin, and a second grassy descent onto the bridleway to the finish in the start field.

Kit requirements are decided on race day; runners are asked to bring full waterproof body cover that protects the torso from head to ankles. Prizes are awarded to the first five men and first five ladies, first U23 man and lady, and veterans in 10 year age categories. Parking instructions request keeping the area in front of the school clear for emergency vehicles and avoiding the Ram Inn car park unless using the pub.
