Thieveley Pike Fell Race

Thieveley Pike Fell Race is an AS category fell race of roughly 4.3 miles (7 km) with about 1310 feet (400 m) of ascent. The course is flagged and marshaled. The route starts in the field beside the Ram Inn, across from the village hall, and finishes in the same field.

The route runs from a often boggy field onto the Mary Towneley Loop and passes Scout Farm. A short steep climb leads onto moorland that levels toward a ruin marked as CP4. After crossing fields and rough moorland the route climbs to the Pike, follows a fence to the trig point, then descends on grassy terrain before a shorter technical drop to the fell gate. The course continues through a young plantation and includes a final steep section back to the ruin, followed by a grassy descent and a bridleway approach to the finish.

Registration is at St John’s Church Hall, Holme, Chapel-in-Cliviger, BB10 4SU, grid ref SD875285. Entry fees are listed as £6 for FRA members and £8 for non members, with entries accepted on the day at the same rates. A decision on mandatory kit will be made on race day; runners are asked to bring full waterproof body cover in case it is required.

Prize categories include first five men and first five ladies, first U23 man and lady and veteran awards in ten year age categories. Parking guidance requests that the area in front of the school remain free for emergency vehicles and asks drivers to avoid blocking access and the Ram Inn car park unless using the pub.
