It offers chip timing, four well-stocked checkpoints on the full route, and awards finishers a technical T-shirt and bespoke medal. Entry payments and deposits are non-refundable. Runners who complete both the winter and summer 45 mile events in the same year are eligible for a cumulative-time buckle in one of four categories.
- 45 miles / 72 kilometres
- 30 miles / 48 kilometres
Course and logistics
The course follows the Community Forest Path around the city of Bristol and for the winter event is run anti-clockwise. The 45 mile race is a full loop starting and finishing at Ashton Park School; the 30 mile event starts near Keynsham and finishes at Ashton Park School. The 45 mile route lists 3,100 ft (945 m) of ascent; the 30 mile route lists 1,900 ft (580 m) of ascent. The 45 has four checkpoints, the 30 has two checkpoints, each providing water and food items; the event is cup-free so runners must bring a reusable cup.
Navigation is self-directed; GPX files and written directions are available and pacers called timelords run to 9, 10, 11 and 12 hour targets to assist navigation and pacing. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, emergency food and a basic first aid kit. Cut-off limits apply and entrants must be aged 20 or over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
