The Wimpy Mile
The Wimpy Mile is a one-mile running and walking event held in Dahlonega, Georgia, with the start area at Hancock Park on Hawkins Street and a finish at the Yahoola Creek kayak launch area. The certified course follows Wimpy Mill Road and moves predominantly downhill, with a reported 178-foot drop in elevation from start to finish.
The event is hosted by the Dahlonega Sunrise Rotary Club and accepts runners, joggers, walkers, families, and leashed dogs. Participants may wear costumes to mark the February holidays. After the mile, an awards presentation and other festivities take place back at Hancock Park. Transportation will be provided for participants who prefer not to walk the return mile.
Registration information: registration opens April 27, 2026 and closes February 13, 2027. The registration fee is $30.00. A $1,000 prize will be awarded to the first registered runner who finishes in under four minutes.
