The Wimpy Mile
The Wimpy Mile is a one mile certified course held in Dahlonega, Georgia on February 13, 2027. The event is the sixth annual running of the race and is organized by the Dahlonega Sunrise Rotary Club. The course starts near Hancock Park in downtown Dahlonega and follows Wimpy Mill Road downhill to the Yahoola Creek kayak launch area, with a measured elevation drop of 178 feet from start to finish.
The event accepts walkers and runners and is described as suitable for a range of paces; the course is noted as an opportunity for competitive runners to pursue a personal record and for families, joggers, and participants with dogs to take part. Participants may wear costumes to mark the February holidays.
After the race there is an awards presentation back at Hancock Park and other on-site activities. Transportation is provided for participants who do not wish to walk the one mile back to the start.
Registration opens April 27, 2026 and closes February 13, 2027. The registration fee for the one mile event is $30.00. Registrations received by February 10, 2027 are guaranteed a T-shirt in the chosen size; shirts for later registrants are available after the race while supplies last.
