IronHike Amicalola Falls Appalachian Trail Approach Fall 2026
IronHike Amicalola Falls AT Approach Trail Fall is a multi-day, elevation-based endurance series held December 9–13, 2026 at Amicalola Falls State Park in Dawsonville, Georgia. The venue includes the AT Approach Trail staircase, the official gateway to the Appalachian Trail, and the park is home to Georgia’s highest waterfall.
The course is a 1.5 mile lap on the AT Approach Trail. Each lap includes 604 stairs up and 604 stairs down and about 604 feet of elevation gain. The course high point at the HQ Bell Summit is listed at 2,550 feet and the Reflection Pool at 1,946 feet. Events use a FlexRelay format for team entries, where teams self-manage laps and there is no minimum or maximum laps per person; some events require night trekking with headlamps. Two series entries are solo-only and require one lap per hour on the hour.
Included for registered Mountain Athletes are free tenting near the course, base camp support with hydration and snacks, personalized bibs and finisher tokens, custom training plans, exclusive staircase access, on-site medical support, and free parking at the park. Overnight lodging options at the Amicalola Falls State Park Lodge and cabins are available onsite.
