IronHike Amicalola Falls Appalachian Trail Approach Fall 2026
IronHike Amicalola Falls Appalachian Trail Approach Fall takes place December 9–13, 2026 at Amicalola Falls State Park in Dawsonville, Georgia. The event series uses the AT Approach Trail staircase for multi-day, elevation-based endurance efforts.
Seven event formats run from 12 to 84 hours. Each lap is approximately 1.5 miles, includes 604 stairs up and 604 stairs down, and yields about 604 feet of vertical gain. Formats include Solo entries, Trail Buddy pairs, and Trail Family FlexRelay teams of four. The event is not a race; there are no podiums or age-group awards. Participants self-manage pace, rest, fueling, and lap strategy with no minimum laps per person.
Event support includes a base camp at the Reflection Pool offering hydration and snacks, on-site free tenting for Mountain Athletes, lodge and cabin options nearby, and free parking for Mountain Athletes. The Cadre provides on-course medical support with military medical training and treks alongside participants. Night trekking for events 24 hours and longer requires a headlamp. Capacity is limited by the staircase.
