Green Street Santa Sprint - Gainesville
The Green Street Santa Sprint is a 1-mile run held on Historic Green Street in Gainesville, GA. The run starts at the corner of Holly Drive and Green Street (781 Green St, Gainesville, GA 30501) and routes past decorated historic homes and oak trees adorned with Christmas lights. Participants wear a green Santa suit as part of the event experience.
The run takes place alongside the City of Gainesville's Christmas on Green Street celebration. That celebration includes a parade of antique cars, holiday floats, and marching bands that begin at the Gainesville Civic Center and continue down Green Street. Before the parade, Green Street is closed for pedestrian activities and visits to the historic homes.
Pre-parade activities on Green Street include musical groups performing on front porches, magicians, face painters, balloon artists, a storyteller, jugglers, Santa Claus, miniature train rides, and food trucks. The evening concludes with the Christmas on Green Street parade and the traditional Lighting of the Rotary Tree at the intersection of Green Street and West Academy Street.
