Amicalola Falls Marathon - Dawsonville, GA
The event features a full marathon and a half marathon held inside Amicalola Falls State Park in Dawsonville, GA. The full marathon is made of two 13.1 mile loops that include the Appalachian Approach Trail and the 605 steps at the falls. The course starts at the top of the falls and follows East Ridge Trail, Mountain Laurel Trail, Len Foote Trail, and the Appalachian Approach Trail, with the loop returning to the start/finish area.
Course details note about 3,200 feet of elevation gain and loss for the half marathon and about 6,400 feet for the full marathon. Trail composition is roughly 83% singletrack and 17% gravel or paved. The route is flagged and signed for navigation.
Race services include two fully stocked aid stations with food, drinks, and medical support, professional timing services, race photos and videos provided after the race, and finishers receive a medal and race shirt or hat. Awards are given by overall, masters, and age categories, and overall winners in each race earn entry for the following year.
Participants must print and sign a waiver and bring it to check-in. Rules include following race staff and medical instructions, staying on the marked course with all flags punched to receive credit, no pacers, trekking poles allowed, and a carry-in carry-out policy for waste.
