Amicalola Falls Marathon
The Amicalola Falls Marathon takes place in Amicalola Falls State Park in Dawsonville, Georgia. This event features trail courses through lush forests, mountain vistas, and bubbling creeks, centered around the 729-foot Amicalola Falls. The routes consist of 83% singletrack and 17% gravel or paved surfaces.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- Marathon (Two 13.1 mile loops)
- Half Marathon (One 13.1 mile loop)
The Marathon course includes approximately 6,400 feet of elevation gain and loss, while the Half Marathon involves 3,200 feet of gain and loss. Both distances require runners to climb the 605 steps of the Appalachian Approach Trail twice per loop. The route begins at the top of the falls and travels along the East Ridge Trail, Mountain Laurel Trail, and the Len Foote Trail toward the Hike Inn before returning to the start-finish area.
The event provides two fully stocked aid stations with food, drinks, and medical support. Participants receive an athletic shirt or hat, and finishers are awarded a metal medal. Professional timing services and media coverage, including free race photos and videos, are included. There is an 8-hour time limit for both distances. Awards are presented for top finishers in overall, masters, and age categories. Participants must bring a printed and signed waiver to check-in.
