Amicalola Falls Marathon
The Amicalola Falls Marathon is a trail event held in Amicalola Falls State Park in Dawsonville, Georgia. The course runs on park trails that pass waterfalls, overlooks, and mountain vistas, and starts at the top of the falls.
Distances
- Full Marathon: two 13.1 mile loops (26.2 miles total)
- Half Marathon: 13.1 miles
The full course includes the 605 steps of the Appalachian Approach Trail and uses a mix of trails. Trail composition is 83% singletrack and 17% gravel or paved. Elevation change is listed as about 3,200 feet gain and loss for the half and about 6,400 feet gain and loss for the full. The route is clearly flagged and signed.
Race services include two fully stocked aid stations with food, drinks, and medical support, professional timing, a race shirt or hat, a finisher medal, and free race photos and videos produced by event media teams. Awards are given for Overall, Masters, and age groups, with top three in each class. Overall winners in each race receive free entry for the following year.
Event rules require no course cutting, punched flags for credit, and courteous behavior toward other users. Trekking poles are allowed and pacers are not permitted. Entries are nonrefundable but may be transferred to another racer in the same event up to five days before the event. Registration closes Thu, Dec 3 at 11:59 PM ET.
