Amicalola Falls Marathon : Dawsonville, GA
The event offers a full marathon and a half marathon that run on trails inside Amicalola Falls State Park in Dawsonville, Georgia. Routes traverse forested trails, creek corridors, overlooks, and sections near the 729-foot Amicalola Falls. The course includes the Appalachian Approach Trail steps and the Len Foote Trail.
Distances
- Marathon: Two 13.1-mile loops, approximately 6,400 feet of total elevation gain and loss.
- Half Marathon: One 13.1-mile loop, approximately 3,200 feet of total elevation gain and loss.
Course and support details are concrete: the route is marked and flagged, surface composition is roughly 83% singletrack and 17% gravel or paved, and runners will climb the 605 steps of the Appalachian Approach Trail during the route. Two fully stocked aid stations provide food, drinks, and medical support. Full media coverage provides race photos and videos at no cost to participants. Finishers receive a medal and a race shirt or hat.
Competition and rules include awards by overall, masters, and age categories; top overall finishers in each race receive entry to the following year. Participants must follow course markings and race staff instructions. Trekking poles are allowed and pacers are not permitted.
