Amicalola Falls Marathon

Event

The Amicalola Falls Marathon takes place on December 6, 2025 at Amicalola Falls State Park in Dawsonville, Georgia (418 Amicalola Falls State Park Rd). The event offers a full marathon and a half marathon. The half marathon distance is 13.1 miles. The full marathon is made up of two 13.1-mile loops (26.2 miles).

Course and logistics

The course begins at the top of Amicalola Falls and follows East Ridge Trail, Mountain Laurel Trail, the Appalachian Approach Trail and the Len Foote Trail. The full course includes the 605 steps of the Appalachian Approach Trail. Elevation change is listed as 3,200 feet of gain and loss for the half marathon and 6,400 feet for the full marathon. Trail surface is approximately 83% singletrack and 17% gravel or paved. The route is marked with signs and flagging. Package pick-up occurs on race day at the start location inside the park.

Support, awards and rules

Two fully stocked aid stations will provide food, drinks and medical support. Professional timing services are provided. Race media teams will produce videos and photos that will be available to participants after the race. Race swag includes a unisex shirt or a race hat and a finisher medal. Overall winners in each race receive free entry for the following year. Age-group awards are given to top three in specified classes. Rules include no cutting the course, required flag punches for credit, crew access limited to the start/finish area, trekking poles allowed, and no pacers.
