The Spirit of Kona Triathlons & 5k/10k
The event takes place at Tellico Dam Recreation Area in Lenoir City, TN on May 9, 2026. It includes multiple race formats on the same day: sprint and Olympic triathlons, aquabike, aquathlon (swim/run), relay divisions, and standalone 5k and 10k runs.
Swim, bike and run segments use the Tellico dam and adjacent roads. The swim courses are out-and-back by the dam. Bike courses are described as rolling hills with a shorter route for sprint participants and a longer route for the Olympic distance. The run course for multisport events follows an out-and-back route along the dam; there is also a separate certified 5k and a certified 10k run course.
Key operational notes from the organizer: packet pickup is available on the Friday before the race and on race morning; timing chips are distributed on race morning only. The organizer enforces a no refund policy; optional entry insurance was offered during registration. In the event of a natural or community disaster, event decisions will be made with local officials, courses or segments may be altered for safety, and no refunds or free future entries will be issued.
