Event details

The Seven Hills of Edinburgh is a mixed road, trail and hill event with elements of urban orienteering. The route is not fixed; competitors choose their own way between hill-top checkpoints. The course is at least 14.3 miles long and includes about 2200 feet of ascent and descent. The event is split into two sections: "The Race" for runners of a higher standard and "The Challenge" for those of more modest ability. The Challenge starts half an hour before The Race. Leading runners often complete the course in under 1 hour 40 minutes; slower competitors may take up to 4 hours. The Challenge is aimed at participants who would take more than 1 hour 45 minutes for a half-marathon.
