Wild Deer Scottish Trail Running Festival 2026
The Wild Deer Scottish Trail Running Festival returns to Dalkeith Country Park, a privately owned 1,000 acre estate near Edinburgh. The event is based at Dalkeith Country Park, Melville Gate Road, Dalkeith, EH22 1RU.
Distances and age rules are:
- Family 1 Mile : ages 3+; parents run free
- 5km : ages 11+
- 10km : ages 15+
- Half Marathon (2 laps) : ages 15+
- Marathon (4 laps) : recommended 18+
Course layouts include woodland trails, firm paths, grassy stretches, and sections of rugged terrain. The half, marathon and ultra events are organised as multiple laps of the course; the ultra is listed as five laps. A single well controlled dog per runner is permitted for Canicross participants.
Timing is provided by live chip timing from Timing Up North. The ultra marathon has an overall cut off of eight hours. At the finish all participants receive a medal, Wild Deer merchandise and an energy bar from VOOM Nutrition. Entrants may add a bespoke event T shirt to their entry for £12. On site parking is available for £4 for the day.
