Event overview
WILD DEER SCOTTISH TRAIL RUNNING FESTIVAL 2026 takes place at Dalkeith Country Park, Melville Gate Road, Dalkeith, EH22 1RU. The venue is a privately owned 1,000-acre estate with woodland trails, firm paths, grassy stretches and rugged terrain. Live chip timing is provided by Timing Up North. The event is canicross friendly - one well-controlled dog per runner is allowed. The Ultra Marathon has an 8 hour cut-off. Entry fees range from about £12 to £35.
Distances and entry
- Family 1 Mile - ages 3+, parent runs for free
- 5km - ages 11+
- 10km - ages 15+
- Half Marathon (2 laps) - minimum age 17+
- Marathon (4 laps) - recommended minimum age 18+
- Ultra (5 laps, ~32.5 miles) - recommended minimum age 18+
Registration opens 8 November 2025 and closes 24 September 2026. Some entries offer a bespoke event T-shirt as an add-on for £12.
Race facilities and services
All finishers receive a medal, Wild Deer merchandise and an energy bar from VOOM Nutrition. On-site parking is available for £4 all day. Course routes are published for the 5km, 10km, half, marathon and ultra distances. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
