Event

The Wild Deer Scottish Trail Running Festival takes place on 27 September 2026 at Dalkeith Country Park, Melville Gate Road, Dalkeith, EH22 1RU. The park is a privately owned, 1,000-acre estate just off the Edinburgh Bypass at the top of the A68. On-site parking is available for £4 per day.

Race details

Distances and minimum ages:

Family 1 Mile - ages 3+ (parent runs for free)
5 km - ages 11+
10 km - ages 15+
Half Marathon (2 laps) - ages 15+
Marathon (4 laps) - recommended 18+
Ultra (5 laps) - recommended 18+

All courses use woodland trails, firm paths, grassy stretches, and some rugged terrain. The event is Canicross friendly; one well-controlled dog per runner is allowed. Live chip timing is provided by Timing Up North. Ultra entrants have an 8 hour cut-off time. All finishers receive a medal, Wild Deer merchandise, and an energy bar from VOOM Nutrition.
