Event overview

The Wild Deer Scottish Festival Trail Runs take place at Dalkeith Country Park, Melville Gate Road, Dalkeith, EH22 1RU on 27 September 2026. The park is a privately owned, 1,000-acre estate near the Edinburgh bypass at the top of the A68. Distances and age groups include:

  • 1 mile Family - ages 3+, parent runs free
  • 5 km - ages 11+
  • 10 km - ages 15+
  • Half Marathon (2 laps) - ages 15+
  • Marathon (4 laps) - recommended 18+
  • Ultra 32.5 miles (5 laps) - recommended 18+

Course, facilities and entries

All courses use a mix of woodland trails, firm paths, grassy stretches, and rugged terrain. The event is Canicross friendly - one well controlled dog per runner. Live chip timing is provided by Timing Up North and the ultra distance has an 8 hour cut-off. On-site parking is available for £4 all day. All finishers receive a medal, Wild Deer merchandise, and an energy bar from VOOM Nutrition. A bespoke event T-shirt is available for an additional fee; some entry options list combined prices and remaining places for each distance.
