Wild Deer Scottish Trail Running Festival 2026 - Dalkeith Country Park

The Wild Deer Scottish Trail Running Festival takes place at Dalkeith Country Park, a privately owned 1,000 acre estate near Edinburgh located just off the Edinburgh Bypass at the top of the A68. Routes run across estate trails and woodland, combining firm paths, grassy stretches and more rugged terrain.

Available distances and age rules include:

  • Family 1 mile - ages 3 plus, parent runs free
  • 5 km - ages 11 plus
  • 10 km - ages 15 plus
  • Half marathon (2 laps) - ages 15 plus
  • Marathon (4 laps) - recommended 18 plus
  • Ultra 32.5 miles (5 laps) - recommended 18 plus

The event is canicross friendly and permits one well controlled dog per runner. Live chip timing is provided by Timing Up North. The ultra distance has a cut off time of 8 hours. On-site parking is available for a daily fee. Finishers receive a medal, Wild Deer merchandise and an energy bar from VOOM Nutrition. Runners can add a bespoke event T shirt to their entry for an additional fee. Route formats include multiple laps for the longer distances and individual route pages are provided for the measured courses. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
