Wild Deer Scottish Trail Running Festival 2026
The Wild Deer Scottish Trail Running Festival takes place at Dalkeith Country Park, Melville Gate Road, Dalkeith EH22 1RU. The park is a privately owned 1,000-acre estate near Edinburgh with woodland, estate trails and open paths. Courses mix woodland trails, firm paths, grassy stretches and rugged terrain.
Distances and age groups:
- Family 1 Mile - ages 3+, parents run for free
- 5 km - ages 11+
- 10 km - ages 15+
- Half Marathon (2 laps) - ages 15+
- Marathon (4 laps) - recommended 18+
- Ultra Marathon (5 laps)
The Ultra Marathon has an 8 hour cut-off. Live chip timing is provided by Timing Up North. The event welcomes Canicross runners with one well-controlled dog per runner. All finishers receive a medal, Wild Deer merchandise and an energy bar from VOOM Nutrition. A bespoke event T-shirt is available for an additional fee. On-site parking is available for £4 all day.
