The Running Dead 5K Run/Walk : Patchogue, NY (October 24, 2026)
The Running Dead is a themed 5K run/walk held in Patchogue, New York at Shortfront Park (49 Smith Street) on October 24, 2026. The event offers both in-person and virtual participation; virtual entries may upload times and photos from October 24 through November 1. The course is a USATF certified 5K.
The event separates participants into human and zombie roles. Humans receive a one minute head start before the zombies. Runners compete for prizes that include overall and age group awards for humans and zombies, best costume awards for zombie and Halloween themes, an award for the zombie who captures the most flags, and an award for best dog costume. A race t-shirt is available to the first 200 registrants.
Registration fees vary by registration period; base in-person or virtual registration is listed as $30.00 plus processing fees, with examples of totals shown at different registration windows. Bib pickup is available Friday, October 23 (6:30pm–8:00pm) at 15 Jennings Ave, Patchogue, and on race day at Shorefront Park; mailed bibs are sent the Monday before the event when applicable.
