The Running Dead 5K Run/Walk - Patchogue, NY
The Running Dead 5K Run/Walk is a themed community 5K scheduled for October 24, 2026 at Shortfront Park, 49 Smith Street, Patchogue, NY. The event is presented by the Euclid Hose Company and the proceeds benefit the Euclid Hose Company of the Patchogue Fire Department.
Participants may register for an in-person 5K or a virtual option with a participation window listed for October 24 to November 1. The course is a USATF certified 5K. The event uses a zombie theme: human runners receive a one-minute head start and zombie participants start later and attempt to capture flags from humans as a game mechanic.
Awards are given for overall top finishers and age-group placements for both humans and zombies, plus prizes for best zombie and Halloween costumes, the zombie who captures the most flags, and best dog costume. Event amenities include a post-race award ceremony, beer for participants 21 and over, refreshments, drawings for prizes (winners must be present), and water and toilet facilities.
Race materials include packet pickup options and mailed bibs for virtual participants.
