About the race
The Running Dead 5K Run/Walk is a themed road event held on October 24, 2026 at Shortfront Park, 49 Smith Street, Patchogue, NY. The event is presented by the Euclid Hose Company and benefits the Euclid Hose Company of the Patchogue Fire Department.
The format separates participants into Humans and Zombies. Humans receive a one minute head start before Zombies. The course is a USATF certified 5K.
Registration options include in person and virtual entries. Virtual participants may upload times and photos between October 24 and November 1, and virtual bibs are mailed the week prior. A race t-shirt is provided to the first 200 registrants. Registration fees may vary with options and processing fees; sponsorship and donation options are listed for additional support.
Awards are given for overall top finishers and age groups for both Humans and Zombies, plus costume awards for best zombie and best Halloween costume, an award for the zombie who captures the most flags, and an award for best dog costume. Amenities listed include a post race award ceremony, beer for those 21 and older, refreshments, drawings for prizes, water station and toilet facilities. Bib pickup is available the day before at a listed packet pickup location and on site the morning of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
