The Running Dead 5K Run/Walk, Patchogue, NY
The Euclid Hose Company presents the Running Dead 5K Run/Walk on October 24, 2026 at Shorefront Park / Shortfront Park, 49 Smith Street, Patchogue, NY. The event offers an in-person 5K and a virtual participation window from October 24 to November 1.
The event stages a human versus zombie format: human runners receive a one minute head start and protect flags, while zombies start behind humans and try to capture flags. Awards include top overall male and female, top three in age groups for both humans and zombies, best costume awards for zombie and Halloween categories, an award for the zombie who captures the most flags, and a best dog costume award.
The course is a USATF certified 5K. Registration includes options for in-person or virtual participation; the first 200 registrants are scheduled to receive a race t shirt. Bib pickup is available with an early packet pickup the day before the event at 15 Jennings Ave and in-person pickup at Shorefront Park on race day; virtual bibs are mailed the Monday prior.
On-site amenities listed for the event include a post race award ceremony, beer for participants 21 and older and other refreshments, water station and toilet facilities, and live online results with same-day finish line photos and free video.
