The Ripper - Sunrise to Sunset
The Ripper - Sunrise to Sunset is a timed distance event at the Pocomoke YMCA in Pocomoke, MD. Runners complete repeated laps on an approximately 3.3 mile loop over a total period of about 13 hours and 41 minutes. Only fully completed laps count toward each participant's distance.
The course is roughly 95% trail, mostly single track with some wider sections. Terrain includes rolling mountain bike hills and rugged, root covered surfaces that require attention and agility. A well stocked aid station at the pavilion provides water, Tailwind Nutrition, soda, sweets, and salty snacks. YMCA facilities including bathrooms and showers are available to all runners.
Runners set up individual rest areas in a beach style layout in a field and may start and stop as they choose during the timed period. New for 2026, if runners tie on completed laps the competitor who finishes the final lap the fastest is ranked higher. Top three men and top three women receive awards. All participants receive a keepsake item and a finisher recognition piece.
The event proceeds rain or shine unless extreme circumstances prevent emergency medical services and support staff from functioning. Key rules include visible bib numbers, no bib transfers, no pacers, no dogs, staying on the established course, and a pack in pack out policy.
