Event overview

The Ripper - Sunrise to Sunset is a timed distance trail event held at the Pocomoke YMCA in Pocomoke, MD on May 2, 2026. The event runs from sunrise to sunset and is scheduled for about 13 hours and 41 minutes (presented as a 14-ish hour timed event). Participants run repeated laps on a roughly 3.3-mile loop and only fully completed laps count toward the total distance. In 2026, ties are broken by which runner finished the final lap fastest. Awards are given to the top three men and top three women. All participants receive a keepsake item and a finisher recognition piece.

Course, support and rules

The course is approximately 95% trail, mostly single-track with some wider sections, rolling mountain bike hills, and root-covered, rugged terrain. Aid is provided at a pavilion with water, Tailwind Nutrition, soda, sweets, and salty snacks. YMCA facilities including bathrooms and showers are available to participants. Runners may set up a personal rest area in a beach-style layout in the field.

Event rules include no bib transfers, visible bib numbers at all times, pack in pack out, staying on the established course, returning a bib if a runner drops out, no pacers, no deferrals or refunds, and no dogs. Crews may remain at runners’ rest areas but are not permitted on the course. The event proceeds rain or shine unless extreme circumstances prevent EMS and support staff from functioning.
