New Year’s Day 5k Hot Chocolate Run : Salisbury, MD
This event offers running options on trails around Salisbury City Park and the nearby zoo, with the course described as mostly crushed gravel, flat and scenic. Some roots and rocks may be present. The race begins and ends at the white bridge in Salisbury Park. Parking is available near the park and across the street. Portable restrooms will be on site.
Aid and finish services include an aid station around mile 1.5, water during the race, and Dunkin' Donuts hot chocolate with a hot cocoa bar and snacks at the finish. A chocolate-scented T-shirt is included for registrants of the Hot Chocolate 5k while supplies last; additional shirts may be available for purchase at packet pickup. Awards are planned: medals for the top three male and female finishers in each age group, and mugs for the overall top three finishers. Chip timing is used for the timed events and results are provided at the finish. The 1 mile fun run follows the 5k and is not chip timed.
