The Rings - Ultra

Event Overview
The Rings is a new trail running event for 2026, featuring a marathon and a 50k ultra distance. The course starts at Lancing College grounds near Shoreham-by-Sea in West Sussex and offers extensive countryside views.
The Course
Both distances follow a route along a river before ascending onto the South Downs Way. Runners will climb Chanctonbury Ring and Cissbury Ring. The 50k ultra includes additional trails along the South Downs Way ridge. The terrain consists of trails, the South Downs Way path, the Downs Link, riverside footpaths, and footpaths through towns.
Event Information
The event includes several services for participants:
- An accurately measured course with clear signage.
- Chip timing for results.
- Fully stocked aid stations with water, gels, and fruit.
- A fully marshalled route with a sweeper vehicle.
- A bespoke finisher's medal for all participants.
- A complimentary post-race drink and snack.
- A free baggage drop area.
- On-site toilets.
- Photography along the route and at the event village.
- Food and drink trucks and seating for spectators.
Participants have the option to purchase a finisher's t-shirt. Trophies are awarded to the first three runners in each category. A group discount is available for six or more entries.
