Event Overview
The Maverick East Sussex Trail is a trail running event held in Stanmer Park, Brighton. The routes use sections of the famous South Downs Way and pass Ditchling Beacon, the third-highest point in the South Downs National Park.
Course Details
Participants can choose from three different routes.
- Half Marathon: 21 km with +457 m of elevation.
- Middle: 13 km with +339 m of elevation.
- Short: 5 km with +147 m of elevation.
The trails consist of woodland walkways, chalky tracks, and farmland paths. The terrain is described as hilly with hard-packed trails. The event aims to be plastic-free and participants are asked to run with a reusable cup or bottle for water at the aid stations, as pre-filled cups are not provided. Aid stations are located on the longer routes.
Location and Access
The event is based at Stanmer Park, BN1 9RH. Pay-and-display parking is available at the University of Brighton (Falmer), which is approximately a 15-minute walk from the event area. The nearest train station is Falmer, which is a 5-10 minute walk away.
Participant Information
The event is dog-friendly, though dogs must be added to the entry. Participants receive a finisher's medal, and the course is fully marked and timed. Online results and event photography are provided. A list of recommended essential items to run with includes a phone, trail shoes, a rain coat, a long sleeve top, a foil blanket, a water bottle, and a reusable cup.
