Course, support and rules

The route follows public footpaths to join the South Downs Way at Chanctonbury Ring, then remains on the South Downs Way to Eastbourne, with a noted junction at Alfriston that routes runners over Windover Hill to Jevington rather than the Seven Sisters footpath. Terrain is listed as 85% trail and 15% road. The course is waymarked using South Downs Way markers plus red and white tape and organiser arrows. There are 7 aid stations and full medical cover including static teams, rapid response vehicles and race ambulances. Crew and pacers are not permitted; spectators must not hand over supplies at checkpoints. Mandatory kit is required and includes a charged mobile phone, at least 1 litre water capacity, survival blanket, waterproof jacket, whistle, primary and backup lights (100 lumens minimum), warm hat, gloves, long-sleeved spare layer and a cup. A finisher medal is awarded to all finishers; prizes are given for top placings and veteran categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
