The Ridgeway Challenge
The Ridgeway Challenge is an 86-mile (139 km) point-to-point trail running race. It follows the entire length of the Ridgeway National Trail, a historic path used for over 5,000 years. The route runs from Ivinghoe Beacon in Hertfordshire to the Avebury Stones in Wiltshire.
The event has an overall time limit of 28 hours and a maximum field size of 250 runners. Entrants must be 20 years or older. The course features permanent trail signage, with additional race markers where needed. Runners must carry navigation aids such as a GPX file on a device or a physical map.
There are eight checkpoints along the route, offering water, electrolyte drinks, gels, chews, sandwiches, fruit, crisps, and sweets. Hot food is available at two checkpoints, and hot water is available at several others. A mandatory kit list includes a waterproof jacket, a warm layer, lights, a mobile phone, and nutrition.
Participants receive a finishers medal, chip timing, live GPS tracking, event photos, and access to a drop bag service. The race has a TRA/UKA license and offers a UTMB World Series index. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
