Event Overview
The Race for a Place is a running and walking event supporting Front Porch Housing, an organization focused on supportive housing. The event aims to raise awareness and funding for supportive services. It is scheduled for Saturday, October 3, 2026.
Distances
Participants can choose between two events:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 10K Run/Walk
Both distances start together. The race course is planned to go around the Front Porch property and the neighboring Greenville Technical Campus, though the final route is to be determined.
Location and Logistics
The event starts at 1433 Cleveland Street in Greenville, South Carolina. Packet pickup begins on the morning of the race at 6:30 AM.
Participation and Awards
Children aged 7 and under can participate for free without registration, but they do not receive a race shirt. The smallest shirt size available is Adult XS. Children under 8 may register if desired to receive an official race time, but they will not be placed in an awards division.
Awards are given to the top overall male and female finishers, and to the top three in each age group for male and female divisions. The age groups are: 8-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
