The Pilgrimage
The Pilgrimage is a timed endurance race held in the high desert near Mack, Colorado. The race runs for 150 hours and is limited to 45 runners. Each "journey" consists of five different zero-pavement routes starting and returning to a central home base. Pacers are not allowed.
Routes mix single track, dirt roads, and ATV track with varied desert and river views at an average altitude just above 5,000 ft. Course distances are approximate and were mapped with GPS. Runners must provide and know how to use separate GPX files for each route; organizers will not assist with navigation during the event. An RD will be on site and awake 24/7 and runners must check in after each route.
Distances per route:
- Green route - 6.6 miles, 497 ft gain
- Blue route - 11.4 miles, 848 ft gain
- White route - 11.9 miles, 1,282 ft gain
- Red route - 12.6 miles, 1,323 ft gain

One journey totals about 55.3 miles and 5,908 ft gain. Completion of four full journeys (about 220 miles) is required to avoid a DNF. The event offers crewed and uncrewed divisions with specific crew rules and a single aid station at the home base offering hot food, cold items, and basic drinks. Medical support is not provided on site. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
