Desert's Edge Triathlon Series
The Desert's Edge Triathlon Series takes place September 26-27, 2026 at Highline Lake State Park in Fruita, Colorado. The event is presented by Community Hospital and produced by the Grand Junction Sports Commission.
The weekend includes multiple race formats:
- Olympic road: 1500 m swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run
- Sprint road: 750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run
- Collegiate sprint (draft legal): 750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run
- Off road sprint: 750 m swim, 23 km bike, 5 km run
The collegiate sprint is open to NCAA triathlon college athletes only. Relay teams of two to three members may enter any distance, with tags performed in the transition zone. The transition area is located on the grass above the swim beach and below the parking lot through the east entrance.
Packet pickup is scheduled Friday through Sunday during the days of the event. The run course includes one water station located about 1.5 miles in; sprint athletes will pass it twice and Olympic athletes four times. Water temperature is expected in the mid 62–68 degree range and wetsuits are permitted. This is not a USAT sanctioned race and no USAT license is required.
Event rules address athlete conduct, course adherence, helmet use while on a bicycle, prohibition of headphones, and penalties for unsafe or unsportsmanlike behavior. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
