Desert's Edge Triathlon Series
The Desert's Edge Triathlon Series takes place September 26-27, 2026 at Highline Lake State Park in Fruita, Colorado. The weekend features road and off road races, including sprint, Olympic, a collegiate draft legal sprint, and an off road sprint.
Events and distances include:
- Olympic road: 1500 m swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run
- Sprint road: 750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run
- Collegiate sprint (NCAA athletes only, draft legal): 750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run
- Off road sprint: 750 m swim, 23 km bike, 5 km run
Packet pickup is held on the Friday and race weekend at Highline Lake State Park. The run course has one water station located approximately 1.5 miles in; the sprint passes that station twice and the Olympic distance passes it four times. Relay teams of two to three athletes may enter any distance with tags exchanged in the transition area. The transition area is on the grass above the swim beach and below the parking lot through the east entrance. Wetsuits are legal and water temperature is expected in the mid 62 to 68 degree range. The event is not USAT sanctioned and does not require a USAT license. Spectators may enter through the west entrance and access viewing areas along the course.
