Grand Valley Backyard - Loma, CO
Scheduled for October 2, 2027, Grand Valley Backyard is a Backyard Ultra organized by Ultraverse Supplements at the 18 Road trail system in Loma, Colorado.
The event uses the traditional Backyard Ultra format: all remaining runners start a 4.17 mile loop each hour, and a runner must complete the loop within the hour to continue. The event continues until only one runner completes a final loop. Runners may set their own distance goals, for example:
- 4.17 miles per loop
- One loop, 50K, 50 miles, 100 miles or beyond
The course is mostly singletrack with some doubletrack and no pavement. Each loop has about 500 feet of elevation gain, with most climbing occurring in the first half. The route is described as runnable and non-technical.
Water and Proxima C Endurance Fuel will be provided on course. Every runner who completes at least one loop will receive a custom finisher buckle noting their distance, plus a tri-blend race shirt, an Ultraverse race sticker, and a drawstring bag. Runners are responsible for additional food and supplies.
Crew is welcome with a limit of three people per runner. Each runner may use up to a 10' x 10' space; pop-up canopies up to 10' x 10' are allowed and must be secured. No electrical service is available; battery stations are allowed but gas generators are not. Cooking is permitted within crew areas while following local fire restrictions.
Registration closes September 25, 2027. The event has a firm credit policy for deferral and withdrawal based on how many days before the race a runner withdraws, credits are tied to the registrant's UltraSignup account, valid for one year, and are not transferable.
