Grand Valley Backyard, October 3, 2026
The Grand Valley Backyard is an inaugural Backyard style ultrarace held in Loma, Colorado, at the 18 Road Trailhead. The event follows the traditional backyard format with repeated loops of 4.17 miles run each hour. All runners start each loop together and the event continues until only one runner remains.
The race is organized as an official Backyard bronze ticket event. Ultrasignup results will record each runner by the distance they achieved; a DNF will only be recorded if a runner fails to finish a loop. Distance specific buckles are awarded for every mileage achieved. Additional awards include acrylic trophies for the last male and last female standing and a Sheridan buckle for the overall last person standing. Finishers also receive a tri-blend shirt, a race sticker, a draw-string bag, and a finishers buckle showing exact mileage.
Race support includes water and Proxima C Endurance Fuel. Runners should bring their own food if needed. Crews are allowed and suggested, limited to three people per runner, with a 10 by 10 feet area per runner and pop-up shelters required to be staked or weighted. No dogs are allowed in crew areas or on course. Crew misconduct can disqualify the runner. No on-site electricity is available for runners and gas generators are not permitted in crew spaces.
Registration opens January 23, 2026. The event is organized by Ultraverse Supplements. Refund and deferral credits follow a tiered schedule based on how far in advance a runner cancels; credits apply to Ultraverse Supplements races and are managed through the runner"s Ultrasignup account. No refunds and no bib transfers are allowed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
