About the race
The PieAthlon combines a 6 km trail run with three pie tasting stations placed along the route. The event starts and finishes at The Dusty Miller Pub in Longwood, Huddersfield, and the course runs mainly off road, passing fields and varied terrain that include a feature called the "bog of doom" and viewpoints over the Longwood area.
Fancy dress is encouraged and a prize is awarded for best fancy dress. All entrants receive a medal and additional prizes are given for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 1st Lady and 1st Junior. The minimum age for entry is 14 and under 18s need consent from a parent or guardian or must be accompanied by an appropriate adult.
Parking near the start is very limited and participants are advised to allow time to approach on foot. Baggage can be left at The Dusty Miller for the duration of the event; there are no showering facilities. Well behaved dogs are welcome but must be under the owner’s control where the route passes through fields with livestock.
The event is organised by the 25th Salendine Nook Scout Group in collaboration with The Dusty Miller Pub. Entry fee is listed at £20 and proceeds are reinvested into the event and into the Scout Group. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
