The Original Swanage Triathlon Festival
The Original Swanage Triathlon Festival takes place at Sandpit Field in Swanage, on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset. The swim is held in open water within Swanage Bay, where clear conditions can reveal local sea life. The bike course includes several hill climbs and a notable descent on Kingston Hill. The run leaves Swanage town and heads north onto Ballard Down Ridge, an area of chalk downland on the Purbeck Hills.
Race options include the following distances:
- Standard: 1500m swim, 38km bike, 10km run
- Sprint: 750m swim, 23km bike, 6.5km run
- Aquathlon: 750m swim, 6.5km run
- Aquabike and relay categories are also offered
The event presents multiple route options intended to suit different participant preferences and to support club groups over a weekend. Swanage is described as a seaside town with activities for families.
Event marshals cover roles such as car parking, registration, finish line, route and drinks stations. Volunteers are offered free entry to future events as thanks. A Code of Conduct asks athletes to show respect and support to others and to read the code before race day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
