The Original Swanage Triathlon Festival
The Original Swanage Triathlon Festival takes place on 28 June 2026 at Sandpit Field in Swanage, Dorset, within the Isle of Purbeck area of outstanding natural beauty. The event features open water swimming in Swanage Bay, where clear water can reveal local sea life.
The bike course includes several hill climbs and a notable descent on Kingston Hill. The run heads north out of Swanage town onto Ballard Down Ridge, a stretch of chalk downland on the Purbeck Hills. Race routes include climbs and ridge running that follow local roads and coastal terrain.
Race formats and distances include:
- Standard: 1500m swim, 38km bike, 10km run
- Sprint: 750m swim, 23km bike, 6.5km run
- Aquathlon: 750m swim, 6.5km run
Additional race categories and relay options are offered. The event is presented as a weekend occasion for clubs and visiting groups, and Swanage provides seaside amenities and family activities nearby. Marshalling roles cover car parking, registration, finish line, route and drink stations; volunteers are offered a free entry to events as a thank you.
