Event overview
The Original Swanage Triathlon Festival is scheduled for 28/06/2026 at Sandpit Field, Shore Road, Swanage, Dorset (BH19 1NP). The event is set in the Isle of Purbeck, a coastal area of the Dorset coast. The swim takes place in Swanage Bay and is an open water swim where sea life may be visible when waters are clear. Course, distances and logistics
Swim, bike and run sections use local coastal and hill terrain. The bike routes include several hill climbs and a notable descent on Kingston Hill. The run heads north out of Swanage town and goes onto Ballard Down Ridge, an area of chalk downland on the Purbeck Hills.
Distances offered:
- Standard: 1500m swim, 38km bike, 10km run
- Sprint: 750m swim, 23km bike, 6.5km run
- Aquathlon: 750m swim, 6.5km run
- Standard Aquabike: 1500m swim, 38km bike
Volunteer roles cover car parking, registration, finish line, route marshals and drinks stations. Volunteers are offered a free entry to the organizer's events. Parking is available on surrounding roads (some free) and at the Main Beach (Victoria Avenue); long stay car park charges are set by the town council.
