The Doomsday Race Charborough
The Doomsday Race is a trail running event held within Bere Wood on the Charborough Estate. The route runs through roughly 600 acres of dense woodland with low light and varied underfoot conditions. The course was developed in collaboration with the estate forester and takes place on private woodland where access has been granted for the event.
Distances offered:
- 10 km, single loop
- Half marathon, double loop
- Half marathon relay, two person teams, single loop each
Terrain is described as raw and varied. Runners should expect woodland tracks, uneven ground, rooted sections, and seasonal mud. The course will be marked and a GPX file will be issued to participants before the event. There are no road crossings and no gates on the trail. One aid station is provided on the loop and medical support will be available on route.
Mandatory kit includes a mobile phone and a reusable cup. Recommended items include a 0.5 litre water supply, foil blanket, extra warm or windproof layer, snacks or gels, gloves, and a GPS watch. Trail shoes are recommended for the terrain and time of year. The minimum age to enter is 18. Entries are non refundable; optional refund cover is available from a third party. Entries may not be transferred except via the official ticketing partner and name changes incur a £5 administration fee.
Race HQ is a covered base with toilets, hot and cold drinks, first aid, feminine hygiene products, and space to gather before and after the run. A single aid station and marked course are provided to support participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
