Wight Lines
Wight Lines is a hip-hop themed running event held on the coastal path at Milford on Sea. The course follows an out and back route along the coast with views of the Isle of Wight, The Needles and Sturt Pond Nature Reserve. The terrain is mixed.
Distances and lap details:
- 5 km up to ultra-marathon options
- Lap length: 5.3 km / 3.28 miles out and back
The event uses a flexible "hip n hop" start format and numbers are collected on the day at race registration. Each participant receives a hip-hop / Wu-Tang / Isle of Wight inspired mash-up medal and a soundtrack is provided. A Run DMC aid station at the start and finish of each lap offers sweet and savoury snacks and drinks. The event is cupless; plastic cups are not provided. Bag drop is available at the race HQ (pink gazebo) and public toilets are located at the start and finish area and on the route.
Local facilities and nearby points of interest listed for the day include Hurst Road play park, The Kiosk, Needles Eye Cafe, The Lighthouse, Milford-on-Sea beach, Sturt Pond Bird Hide, Hurst Castle and The Wash House / The Beach House. Final instructions are sent by email before the event. The event is licensed by the TRA and will be run under UKA rules; distance restrictions apply to participants aged 20 or under.
