Event overview

The North Wales 50km & 100km is an organized coastal ultramarathon starting from Prestatyn Nova Centre on 25 April 2026. Routes follow the North Wales coastline between Prestatyn and Bangor, with sections of flat coastal running and inland hills. The 100km route follows the waymarked North Wales Path and passes landmarks including the Great Orme, Conwy Castle, Aber Falls and Penrhyn Castle.

Practical information

  • 50 km (actual 53.8 km) - route to West Shore, Llandudno; 2700 ft ascent.
  • 100 km - follows the North Wales Path; 8000 ft ascent.

There are six aid stations on the full route and three on the 50 km route. A drop bag service is available for 100 km participants at the Llandudno West Shore checkpoint and will be moved on to the finish. Event services include medical cover, an event map, tracking and chip timing. All competitors receive an event memento and a certificate. Competitors must arrange their own transport from the finish; the main Chester to Holyhead rail line runs near the route and there are stations along the way. Parking is available at the start for a small charge. A briefing and mandatory kit check take place shortly before the race. Event time limits are nine hours for the 50 km and 18 hours for the 100 km. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
