Montane Dragon's Back Race

The Dragon’s Back Race is a legendary multi-stage ultra running event tracing Wales’ spine, from Conwy Castle to Cardiff Castle. Over six days participants cover about 380 km with around 16,400 m of ascent, tackling rugged mountains and remote valleys. The format is staged, emphasizing endurance, grit, and a strong sense of camaraderie in a spectacular Welsh landscape.

A newer Hatchling option allows runners to tackle a partial course while still finishing in Cardiff for the ceremony. Held every September, the race is widely regarded as one of the world’s toughest mountain challenges. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
