The New Yorker 10K and 5K at Riverside Park
The event takes place on September 26, 2026, at Riverside Park with the 84th Street entrance in New York, NY 10024. The course runs through Riverside Park, including the Freedom Tunnel, and offers views of Manhattan waterfronts, greenery, and walking and biking paths. The park is described as roughly 150 years old and credited to Fredrick La Olmsted.
The course format is looped: the 5K is one loop and the 10K is two loops. Water stations are placed at about every 1.5 miles and will provide water, Gatorade, and electrolyte gels. Timing uses a bib with an attached timing chip; bibs must be worn on the front of the torso to ensure correct readings. Split times per loop and final results are recorded in real time.
Baggage check is limited and available on request; each bib includes a tear-off tag to claim a bag from a secure area. Packet pick-up requires a photo ID. Participants receive a technical t-shirt available in male and female cuts. A commemorative bib is available for registrants who register at least four weeks prior; a general bib is issued thereafter. Finishers receive a die cast medal with a full color ribbon. Awards and plaques are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers and to top three in each age group: 14-19, 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70+. Post race refreshments include bagels, cream cheese spreads, organic jelly, peanut butter, fruits, and drinks.
Registration fees listed for the events are $60 for the 10K and $50 for the 5K. There are no transfers, credits, or refunds; organizers reserve the right to change, modify, or cancel the race and may transfer entries to another event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
