Scafell Pike Sea to Summit
This is a one-day, mass-participation sea to summit ultramarathon that goes from Seascale beachfront to the summit of Scafell Pike and back to Seascale Sports Hall. The course covers 33 miles (53 km) with about +5600 ft of ascent and is listed under the Run/Trek discipline.
The route is fully waymarked with bright orange arrows so participants do not need to follow a GPX file, though a GPX file is available to download. The event is fully supported with staffed pit stops offering water, hot drinks, salty snacks, sweets and fruit; medical cover is provided by a professional team including paramedics and doctors operating from vehicles and a private ambulance. Cut-offs are applied and set at a 3 mph completion pace; key cut-off locations include PS1 (6.5 miles), PS2 (14 miles), Maiden Castle (20 miles) and PS3 (26 miles).
Participants must be over 18 on the day of registration. A mandatory kit list is provided. Parking is available at an event car park about 3 miles from the start, with a free shuttle bus to the start line. The event forms part of the Sea to Summit Series; completing all three events in the series awards a Trilogy gold medal, and fundraising options include a refund offer for specified fundraising targets.
