The Maverick New Forest Gravel : 16 January 2027, Holmsley Campsite
The event takes place at Holmsley Campsite within the New Forest National Park. Routes run through ancient and young woodland, evergreens and open forest trails where New Forest ponies and deer may be encountered. The underfoot surface is predominantly gravel and generally smooth, with wet sections, mud and short, sharp climbs on some parts of the routes.
There are three route options with stated distances and elevation gains:
- Half Marathon: 22 km, elevation +172 m
- Middle: 12 km, elevation +115 m
- Short: 6 km, elevation +31 m
The course is fully marked and fully timed with online results. Facilities listed include free parking, event photography, food and drink available, a bag drop area and a metal finishers medal. Precision fuel and hydration outposts will offer a range of snacks, gels and electrolyte drinks; there is no outpost on the Short route. The event aims to be cup free at outposts so participants should bring a cup or bottle for refills. Organisers request that all runners finish by 2pm, which corresponds to a 4 hour maximum on course. Headphones are not recommended but are permitted. Entrants are advised to carry essentials such as a phone, trail shoes, raincoat and a water bottle or running pack.
