The Mathew Forbes Romer Foundation 5K for Brain Health
The event takes place on January 10, 2027 at South County Regional Park in Boca Raton, with the Amphitheater address provided for parking and directions. Race timing is provided by Accuchip Timing.
The event program includes multiple participation options:
- 5K run/walk for in-person participants.
- Virtual 5K Sleep In Option with shirt and finisher medal mailed; results are honor system and not eligible for awards.
- Dog 1 Mile-ish WALK (0.93 miles) for one dog and one adult handler; this is strictly a walk.
Dogs are not allowed in the main 5K run/walk and may participate only in the dog walk event. Packet pick up is available at a local running store through the day before the event and also at the venue on race morning. Race shirts are dry-fit type garments.
Awards are offered by male and female overall and by age groups including under 10, 10-14, 15-19, and then 10-year groups up to 80 and older. The foundation’s stated mission is to promote awareness, testing, counseling, and research aimed at preventing and curing fatal genetic brain diseases in children. The foundation reports having raised over $3 million and supports work in research of treatments and cures, education and genetic screening, and nursing school educational programs.
