The Machias Blueberry Run 5-Mile
The Machias Blueberry event offers two main distances: a 5 Mile run/walk and a 1 Mile fun run/walk. The event is sponsored by the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center and raises funds for the Down East Cancer Patient Navigation Program, which helps patients access treatment, resources, and services.
Packet pickup for pre-registered participants is at the Machias Valley Christian School parking lot, 118 Court Street, Machias, Maine. Pickup times are Friday, August 14, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and Saturday, August 15, 2026 beginning at 6:00 AM and closing promptly at 7:00 AM. Race-day registration is also held at the same location beginning at 6:00 AM and closing at 7:00 AM.
Registration fees are listed separately for each distance. Pre-registration fees are $25 for the 1 Mile fun run/walk and $35 for the 5 Mile run/walk. Race-day fees are $30 for the 1 Mile and $40 for the 5 Mile.
Awards for the 5 Mile include overall male and female and male and female age-group awards in the ranges 15–18, 19–30, 31–40, 41–50, 51–60, and 60+. Walking awards recognize the first female and first male walkers. The 1 Mile offers top female and male finishers in age categories 8 and under, 9–10, and 11–14.
Race rules note that headphones and pets are not permitted on the course. Baby strollers are allowed on the 1 Mile course but must start at the back of the line. Participants are asked to attend only if they are healthy and to follow guidance from public health authorities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
