Event Overview
The Longest Day Run is a 5K run and walk event held on the Saturday of the summer solstice. It starts and finishes at Old Mill Park in Geneva, Illinois.
Distances and Schedule
The event features two distances:
- A 5K run/walk.
- A 50-meter kids dash for participants aged 2-6.
Course and Features
The 5K takes place on a closed, scenic course. The event uses chip timing. A pre-race packet pickup is scheduled for the Thursday before the event at Dick Pond Athletics in St. Charles, Illinois. Race day registration and packet pickup is also available.
Registration and Amenities
Registration includes a technical shirt (available in unisex or ladies cut), a custom finisher medal, and a post-race celebration with pizza, drinks, and dessert. All 5K participants are entered into a raffle for Goodr sunglasses. Kids dash participants receive a cotton race shirt, a custom finisher medal, and sunglasses.
Awards
Awards are given for the 5K. The top overall male and female finishers receive awards. Age group awards are presented to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in categories from 10 & under to 80 & over.
Virtual Option
A virtual participation option is available. Participants can complete their 5K distance anywhere between June 15 and June 21, 2026. Race swag will be shipped to virtual participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
