Last Tide Standing Backyard Ultra in Riverview and Moncton, New Brunswick
Last Tide Standing Backyard Ultra takes place on September 19, 2026 on a 6.7 km loop that follows a section of the Petitcodiac River and lies within both Riverview and Moncton. The course crosses two bridges, goes through two parks, includes two boardwalks and passes a beer garden. The entire loop is part of the Trans Canada Trail.
The event uses the backyard ultra format: a bell rings every hour and runners must complete the loop within the allotted time or they are eliminated. There is no predetermined race distance; the event continues until only one runner remains. The backyard ultra runs concurrently with the tidal bore race, allowing participation in both events at the same time.
Participants are invited to wear their running club apparel. Personal canopies or shelters are not allowed, but run clubs may use a designated area to support members; club canopies must be staffed at all times and dismantled quickly if high winds require it.
Official awards include cash prizes and trophies for the last person standing, the assist and the opposite sex of the last person standing. All participants receive a finishing medal, apparel, a Long Run wrist band and additional recognition wrist bands for completing 25, 50, 75 and 100 plus miles. An Ultra Elite Club recognition is given to runners who surpass 100 km. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
