The Long Run Backyard Ultra
The event uses a Backyard Ultra format: every hour a bell rings and runners have 6.7 km to complete the loop. A runner who does not return within the hour is out. The race has no predetermined distance or finish line and ends when one person remains.
The course is located in both Riverview and Moncton and circles a section of the Petitcodiac River. The route crosses two bridges, two parks, two boardwalks and includes a beer garden area. The layout offers an almost unobstructed view of much of the course, allowing crews and spectators to follow runners from multiple vantage points.
The field is limited to 50 participants and the listed edition is shown as sold out. Entry is for ages 18 and over. All participants receive a finishing medal, event swag, a Long Run wrist band and a T-shirt. Runners who accumulate 25+, 50+, 75+ and 100+ miles receive recognition wrist bands. Prize awards include 1000 CDN and a trophy for the last person standing plus monetary awards and trophies for assist categories and the opposite-sex finisher of the last person standing.
