The Llangollen 50K
The Llangollen 50K is an ultra-distance running event located in North Wales. The course follows a circular route that begins and ends at the Llangollen Leisure Centre. The route explores the landscape of the Dee Valley, offering views of the Berwyn Hills and the river.
The event features a single main distance:
- 50 km
The 50 km course utilizes marked 15-mile linear routes with an additional section to complete the full distance. The terrain includes ascents through the valley and forested areas. Participants follow a well-marked path with three specific checkpoints and feed stations located at Bwlch y Groes (11 km), Corwen Leisure Centre (23.8 km), and Ceiriog Forest (39 km).
Specific cut-off times are enforced at each checkpoint and for the overall event completion. Participants are required to carry a mandatory kit list, which includes full-body waterproof cover, a hat, gloves, a buff, a foil blanket, a fully charged mobile phone, and at least one litre of water. The organizers provide a map and route description for the race.
Each participant receives electronic timing and a finisher's medal upon completion. Registration for the event opens 20 minutes before the scheduled wave starts. The venue is accessible by car and is located approximately 26 minutes from Wrexham via the A539. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
