Event overview

The 40th Two Crosses Circuit is scheduled for Sunday 8 March 2026 at Greenmount Old School Community Centre, Brandlesholme Road, Greenmount, BL8 4DS. The route passes via the Western Pennine reservoirs and moors. The event offers two distances: 26 miles and 18 miles. The event is organised by LDWA - East Lancs.

Entries, eligibility and fees

Entries opened on 5 September 2025 and close on 3 March 2026. The event is currently full; new entries are placed on a waiting list. Entries so far: 250 participants; waiting list entries: 25 participants. Entry fees are £15 for LDWA members and £20 for non-members. Entrants must be 14 years or older on the day. Under 18s are restricted to the 18-mile route and must be accompanied at all times by a parent or guardian. The 26-mile route requires entrants to be 18 years or older.

Rules, safety and equipment

Runners and walkers are allowed. There is a 9 hour time limit. Entrants must follow the route description and check in at all checkpoints; retirees must inform an event official. Event marshals may short route or retire anyone who does not comply with rules or who is judged unfit to continue. Food at checkpoints cannot be guaranteed free from allergens. Required equipment includes appropriate clothing and footwear, waterproofs, compass, whistle, mug and one of these maps: 1:50 000 OS109 Manchester or 1:25 000 West Pennine Moors Explorer 287. Electronic route and map versions are permitted.

No refunds or deferrals. Transfers are allowed before 4 March 2026. No entry on the day. Well behaved dogs are permitted if covered by public liability insurance and kept on a lead. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
