Event overview

The 40th Two Crosses Circuit is a walkers and runners event on Sunday 8 March 2026. It follows routes via the Western Pennine reservoirs and moors and is organised by LDWA - East Lancs. The event is based at Greenmount Old School Community Centre, Brandlesholme Road, Greenmount, BL8 4DS.

Entry and eligibility

Entries opened 5 September 2025 and close 3 March 2026. The event is currently full; new entries are placed on a waiting list. Entries recorded so far: 250 participants, with 56 on the waiting list. Entry fees are £15 for LDWA members and £20 for non-members. Entrants must be 14 or older on the day. Under 18s are restricted to the 18 mile route and must be accompanied at all times by a parent or guardian. The 26 mile course requires entrants to be 18 years or older. No refunds or deferrals; transfers allowed before 4 March 2026. No entry on the day.

Practical and safety information

There is a 9-hour overall time limit and checkpoints have cutoff times; late arrivals may be diverted or retired. All entrants must follow the route description and check in at all checkpoints. Retirees must inform an event official. Food at checkpoints cannot be guaranteed free from allergens. Required equipment includes suitable clothing and footwear, waterproofs, compass, whistle, mug and one of these maps: 1:50 000 OS109 Manchester or 1:25 000 West Pennine Moors Explorer 287. Electronic maps and route files are permitted. Dogs are welcome if covered by public liability insurance and kept on a lead. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
