Event Overview

The 40th Two Crosses Circuit is a walking and running event offering distances of 18 miles and 26 miles. The route passes through the Western Pennine reservoirs and moors.

Location and Schedule

The event starts and finishes at the Greenmount Old School Community Centre on Brandlesholme Road in Greenmount. The total time limit for the event is 9 hours. Checkpoint 4 closes at 13:30, and all entrants must finish by 17:00. There is a cut-off point for the long route at 7.5 miles; participants arriving after 10:15 will be diverted to the short route.

Participation Details

Entry is open to participants aged 14 or older on the event day. Participants under 18 are restricted to the 18-mile route and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Well-behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead and have public liability insurance.

Registration and Fees

Entry fees are £15.00 for LDWA members and £20.00 for non-members. The event is currently full, so new entries will be placed on a waiting list. No entry on the day is permitted. No refunds or deferrals are offered, but transfers are possible before 4th March 2026.

Required Equipment

Mandatory equipment includes appropriate clothing and footwear, waterproofs, a compass, a whistle, and a mug. Participants must bring one of the following maps: OS Landranger 109 (Manchester) or OS Explorer 287 (West Pennine Moors).
