Two Crosses Challenge Event
The Two Crosses Challenge Event is an annual East Lancashire LDWA challenge with two marked routes that visit local landmarks. Both routes pass the Roman Cross at Affetside and the Pilgrim's Cross on Holcombe Moor.

- 18 mile route
- 26 mile route
The event venue is Greenmount Old School Community Centre BL8 4DS. Parking is provided across various locations; participants should follow marshal directions, avoid parking at the Old School, and not use the Miller and Carter pub car park because ANPR fines may apply. Some parking locations may require a short walk to the venue and car sharing is encouraged.
Entrants must be registered to take part; non registered participants are not permitted. The long route has a cut off at 7.5 miles that must be reached to continue; there are also closing times for later checkpoints and participants who miss them may be retired. Route GPX files and a written route description have been updated for 2026; a small diversion exists between checkpoint 3 and checkpoint 4 and any last minute amendments will be announced on the day.
Participants should bring a mug and the equipment listed on the entry form or SI entries. Dogs are welcome if kept on a lead, supervised due to livestock and ground nesting birds, and covered by the owner’s public liability insurance. Entrants may transfer or sell their entry via SI entries until Wednesday 4th March 2026.
There will be a selection of home made jams and chutneys for sale at Greenmount with proceeds donated to Prostate Cancer UK; cash is advised. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
