Event details

The 40th Two Crosses Circuit takes place on Sunday 8 March 2026 at Greenmount Old School Community Centre, Brandlesholme Road, Greenmount, BL8 4DS. The route goes via the Western Pennine reservoirs and moors. The event is organised by LDWA - East Lancs and is open to walkers and runners.

Entry, age and numbers

The event is currently full; new entries are placed on a waiting list. There are 250 entries and 46 waiting list entries recorded. Entrants must be 14 years or older. The 26-mile course requires participants to be 18 years or older. Under-18s may only enter the 18-mile route and must be accompanied at all times by a parent or guardian. Entry fees are £15 for LDWA members and £20 for non-members. Transfers are allowed before 4 March 2026. No entry on the day. No refunds or deferrals.

Safety, equipment and rules

There is a 9 hour time limit. Checkpoints are used and entrants must check in at all checkpoints. Event marshals may short route or retire anyone who does not follow the rules or is judged unable to complete within the time limit. Retirees must inform an event official. Required equipment includes appropriate clothing and footwear, waterproofs, compass, whistle, mug and one of the specified maps (OS 1:50,000 109 Manchester or Explorer 287). Electronic versions of route and maps are allowed. Well behaved dogs are permitted if insured for public liability and kept on a lead. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
