Saddleworth Res's
Saddleworth Res's is a moorland trail event on 7 March 2026 based at Saddleworth Cricket Club, Calf Lane, Greenfield OL3 7HY. The routes visit local reservoirs across Saddleworth Moor and require each participant to navigate unmarked terrain and visit checkpoints in the correct order.
Available courses:
- 5 Res's - around 25 to 26 km, minimum age 17
- 10 Res's - around 43 to 44 km, minimum age 18
- 15 Res's - around 60 to 62 km, minimum age 20
Routes cross paved paths, tracks, boulder fields, stream crossings and extensive boggy ground. Checkpoints provide food and drink; at least one indoor checkpoint is available on each course. Entry fees include refreshments, Open Tracking timing and live results, and a post event meal. Technical T shirts, maps and other optional purchases are offered.
The courses are not waymarked except for a small SSSI section; GPS devices are allowed but participants must be able to navigate with a paper map and compass. Mandatory kit lists are specified and include a whole waterproof body cover, hat and gloves, spare long sleeve top, paper map, compass and whistle, simple first aid kit, survival bag, headtorch with spare batteries, and extra food and water.
