Stan Bradshaw Pendle Round

The Stan Bradshaw Pendle Round is an off-road running event that takes participants around the Pendle Massif. The course visits various parts of the hill that are less frequently visited by other races in the area. The event is scheduled for March, a time of year when weather conditions can vary between significant warmth and deep snow.

The terrain consists of a mixture of defined paths and boggy moorland trod. Participants will encounter steep climbs, grassy descents, and sections where route choice is possible. Because of the nature of the terrain and the potential for poor visibility or bad weather, the event is not considered suitable for novice runners. For the 2026 edition, an early start is available by arrangement for participants in the V70 age category and above.

Safety regulations follow FRA rules, requiring all runners to carry specific equipment. This includes full waterproof body cover, a hat, gloves, a compass, a whistle, emergency food, and a map of the route. Kit checks are conducted at registration and may occur at various times during the event.

The route starts and finishes outside Barley Village Hall. It includes several checkpoints such as:

  • Trig Point Shelter
  • Scout Cairn
  • Gate to Calf Hill
  • Woodhouse Brook
  • Broken Wall/Stile
  • Gate to Fell Wood

The minimum age for participation is 18 years old. Participants must ensure their race numbers are clearly visible on their chests and at all manned checkpoints throughout the run. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
