Stan Bradshaw Pendle Round

Held every March to commemorate the fell runner Stan Bradshaw, this race was devised as the successor to the Half Tour of Pendle to help reduce erosion. The route climbs to the trig via Buttock Farm, follows the spine of Pendle, then descends to Churn Clough Reservoir. It continues to Stainscomb, the long‑time site of Stan’s hut, climbs over the hill to Lower Ogden Reservoir and returns to Barley for a fast finish.

The course distance is 9 miles / 15 km with a total climb of 1,788 ft / 545 m. The race is categorised BM and has a minimum age of 18. Entries are limited to 300. Pre‑entry is handled through SiEntries with the stated pre‑entry and entry on the day fees for FRA members and non‑members.

Perpetual trophies are awarded to the first female, first male and first under‑23 finishers and are held for eleven months. The event is held under UKA rules and is registered with the FRA. Practical facilities in Barley include the Pete Bland Sports van in the car park and refreshments such as soup, cakes, tea and coffee available in the village hall before and after the race.
