Purpose, history and post-run activities
The run is organized by the Bee Positive Foundation, created after Kayla Bernardi died of leukemia in 2015. The annual 5K Fun Run Walk is held on Kayla’s birthday, January 31, to honor her memory and to raise funds for community initiatives carried out in the foundation’s name. After the run, organizers plan a post-run Bee Positive party at Dust Bowl Brewery. Past event gatherings have included music, cornhole, a food trailer, an outdoor bar, and complimentary drinks for a limited number of adult participants. A course map is available via MapMyRun.
