The Herring Run Trail Race 2026
The Herring Run is a trail running event located in Mascarene, New Brunswick. The race is set on an 11.14 km loop that participants complete either once or twice. The route travels through wooded areas and follows the rocky shoreline of Passamaquoddy Bay. A specific feature of the course involves crossing a large cove at low tide.
For the 2026 edition, the course has been updated with increased technicality and elevation. Each loop features 306 meters of vertical gain and includes 25% more technical singletrack than previous versions. The terrain is primarily off-road, with approximately 475 meters of paved road included in the loop.
Available distances include:
- 11 km (one loop)
- 22 km (two loops)
For those participating in the 22 km distance, a 1.5-hour cutoff time applies to the first lap to ensure runners can safely cross the cove during low tide. The event organizers aim for all participants to complete their respective distances within a 3-hour window. Additionally, a kids race is scheduled following the main events. The course utilizes private land specifically opened by local landowners for this race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
