The Herring Run 2026
The Herring Run is held on a roughly 11 km loop near Passamaquoddy Bay in Mascarene, NB, Canada. The loop is run once for the short distance or twice for the long distance, and the course includes a cove crossing at low tide.
The 2026 course is different from previous years. The single loop measures 11.14 km with 285 m of elevation gain. The paved road section is about 475 m and there is roughly 25% more technical singletrack than before. The previous course used from 2021 to 2025 measured 10.74 km with about 211 m of elevation gain.
For the double-lap race a 1.5 hour cutoff is applied to the first lap to ensure runners can cross the cove at low tide. The event day also includes check in, a local and organic luncheon, a kids race, and awards and prizes.
Registration for the period listed runs from Feb 1 to Jul 13 with a fee of 65.00 $ for each distance. Portions of the route cross private properties opened by local landowners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
