The Great Waterville Marathon
The Waterville Marathon - Full/Half/10K/5K - Running Festival is organized by the Maine Endurance Sports Alliance. The event takes place in Waterville, Maine, with all race courses starting and ending at Thomas College. The routes travel along Route 104 into the countryside across the communities of Waterville, Sydney, and Oakland.
Available distances include:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- 5K
The courses are in the process of being USATF sanctioned and Boston certified. Pine Tree Racing Services provides official timing for the event. There is no time limit for participants to complete their selected distance.
The festival includes a vendor area at the finish line for participants and guests. For those with personal fluids, the organization accepts bottles at the operations tent at the start line until a specific morning cutoff. These bottles are subsequently placed on special tables at each water station for easy collection during the race.
The event is part of several series organized by the Maine Endurance Sports Alliance. Runners who complete both the Bangor and Lincoln events can qualify for the "Run the Highlands" medal. Additionally, the "Vacationland Triple Crown" medal is available for those who finish three out of the four alliance races in the same calendar year.
