Indoor Insanity 5K - Waterville, Maine
Indoor Insanity 5K is an indoor race held on January 10, 2027 at Colby College Harold Alfond Athletics & Recreation Center in Waterville, Maine. The event takes place on an indoor track and includes dedicated lanes for walkers and a short kids run.

Racing is organized into heat-based fields to reduce on-course congestion. Heat 1 is intended for the fastest runners and is limited to 30 participants. Heat 2 targets intermediate paces and is limited to 75 participants. Heat 3 is open to runners of any level. Walkers have a dedicated lane and the kids run is a separate short course.
The race uses professional chip timing to provide individual lap and finish times. Participants receive split times for each lap, resulting in 25 pieces of running data for the 5 km event. Hand tally counters are available to help with lap counting; participants who want extra assistance are advised to bring a spotter.
This event is a fundraiser to address radon-related lung cancer in Maine. Registration fees and supplemental donations support radon mitigations in low-income Maine households. The organizer works with established non-profit partners and registered radon mitigators to identify households and facilitate mitigations. Radon is identified in event materials as the second leading cause of lung cancer nationwide and the leading cause among non-smokers; the materials note that about one third of Maine homes have radon above EPA recommended action levels.
