Indoor Insanity 5K : Waterville, Maine

The event takes place on Sunday, January 11, 2026 at the Harold Alfond Athletics & Recreation Center, Colby College, Waterville, ME. The race is held indoors and includes running and walking events plus a kids fun run.

The 5K is run in pace-based heats to reduce congestion. Heat 1 is for the fastest runners (15-20 minute 5K) and is limited to 30 runners. Heat 2 is for intermediate runners (20-27 minute 5K) and is limited to 75 runners. Heat 3 is open to runners 27 minutes and above. Walkers have two dedicated lanes and start with Heat 1 runners. The kids fun run is for ages 1–12.

Race timing is professional chip timing, providing individual lap and finish times and 25 split data points for participants. Hand tally counters are available to help track laps; participants are advised not to rely on the timing company for individual lap counts during heats.

All registration fees and participant fundraising or donations are used to pay for radon mitigation systems in low-income Maine households. The event’s 2026 fundraising goal is $7,500, intended to fund mitigation for up to five homes. Fundraising incentives include a reward at a $250 minimum and additional raffle entries for each further fundraising increment. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
