Event Overview
The One in Five 5K is the 15th annual event hosted by the Sexual Assault Crisis & Support Center. It takes place during April to honor Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The event aims to raise awareness and solidarity against sexual violence, inspired by a statistic that an estimated one in five people in Maine have been affected by it.
Event Format and Location
The event offers two participation options:
- A single in-person race on April 26, 2026, at FirstPark in Oakland, Maine.
- A virtual race option with an extended period for completion, ending on May 10, 2026.
Both running and walking are part of the event. Friendly, leashed dogs and strollers are welcome at the in-person race.
Purpose and Beneficiary
100% of the event's proceeds benefit the Sexual Assault Crisis & Support Center. The funds support free services for survivors in Kennebec and Somerset counties, including a 24-hour support line, support groups, advocacy, and prevention education.
