One in Five 5K
One in Five 5K is an annual community run hosted by the Sexual Assault Crisis & Support Center. The event includes an in person 5K at FirstPark in Oakland on April 26, 2026 and a virtual 5K option that runs from April 1 to May 10, 2026. This edition is the 15th annual race and is held in April to coincide with Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
The event is presented as a run or walk in solidarity with people affected by sexual violence and is inspired by the statistic that an estimated one in five people in Maine have been affected by sexual violence. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Sexual Assault Crisis & Support Center and its services for survivors.
Services provided by the organizing center include a 24 hour staffed support line, support groups, justice system advocacy, school based prevention education, and a Children’s Advocacy Center. The race permits friendly leashed dogs and strollers. The in person event lists age eligibility up to 120 years.
