The Great Train Race - Fredericksburg, VA
The Great Train Race takes place on May 3, 2026, on Caroline Street in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The course starts near the Fredericksburg Train Station, runs through historic downtown, and finishes at the City Docks at the Crown Trophy finish line. A Race Festival in the commuter lot behind the Train Station follows the races and includes awards, music, vendors, and treats.
Events, awards and logistics
The event is for participants under 18 and includes these races:
- 1 mile Express - ages 6 to 17, chip timed
- 1/2 mile George Dashington - ages 10 and under, chip timed
- 1/4 mile Caboose Run - ages 5 and under, fun run (not timed)
All participants receive a finisher medal and a race shirt. Shirts are only guaranteed for registrations completed before April 1. Published entry fees are $20 for the 1 mile Express, $18 for the 1/2 mile, and $15 for the 1/4 mile; fees increase after March 1, 2026 at 11:59pm EST.
Packet pickup is scheduled for Friday, May 1 from 5 to 9pm and Saturday, May 2 from 10am to 4pm at a location to be determined. There is no race day packet pickup.
