2026 Run for the Wounded 5k, 10k, & Half

The Run for the Wounded takes place on May 3 at Prince William Forest Park in Triangle, VA. Points from the event count toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k, Endurance and Back of the Pack Series, and toward the Spring Series. The event benefits Leashes of Valor, a nonprofit that provides service dogs at no cost to wounded and disabled veterans.

The course uses a mix of paved roads and trails and includes measurable elevation gain and hills. Course maps and elevation details are available from the organizer. Surface breakdown by distance is as follows:

  • 5k - trail run
  • 10k - about 50% trail and 50% pavement
  • Half marathon - mostly pavement, about 60% of the course

Runners receive a finisher’s coin, a technical Drifit event shirt, and chip timing. T-shirts are guaranteed for runners registered before April 22; registration fees include the park entrance fee and increase after April 15 and again on race morning. A virtual race option is offered for participants who cannot attend in person. Walkers are welcome.

Logistics and support details include on-site packet pickup, no on-site race registration with registration closing the night before, multiple water stations on each course with some stations offering Gatorade, and live race results and timing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
