Event
The 2026 Run for the Wounded offers three race distances at Prince William Forest Park on May 3, 2026. Distances include:
- 5k
- 10k
- Half marathon
Points from this event count toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k, Endurance, and Back of the Pack series, and toward the Spring Series. The event benefits Leashes of Valor, a nonprofit that provides service dogs to wounded and disabled veterans. A virtual race option is available.
Details
The courses mix pavement and trails: the 5k is a trail run, the 10k is roughly 50% trail and 50% pavement, and the half is about 60% pavement with paved roads and trail sections. Runners receive a finisher’s coin, a technical (drifit) event shirt, and chip timing.
Water stations are placed along each course: eight on the half marathon, three on the 10k, and one on the 5k, with some stations offering Gatorade. Restrooms are located near the Visitor Center. Packet pickup is available at the event; organizers recommend arriving about one hour before a participant’s race. There will be no on-site race registration; online registration closes the night before the event. T-shirts are guaranteed for entries completed before April 22. Registration fees before April 15 are listed as: 5k $35, 10k $50, half $70; fees increase later and by $5 on race morning. Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and to age-group places. Parking is at Williams Ballfield inside the park (coordinates 38.559346, -77.348438).
