The Great Pumpkin Run for Bennett
The Great Pumpkin Run for Bennett is a community running event held at Levy Park in Crowley, Louisiana. This event features a 3.1-mile course available for both runners and walkers. Participants are divided into two primary registration categories based on age: youth (ages 0-14) and adults (ages 15 and older).
The race serves as a benefit for a child diagnosed with Infantile Neuroaxonal Dystrophy (INAD) and the INADCure Foundation. Funds raised through the event assist with the purchase of medical equipment and home modifications, while a portion is directed to the foundation to support research and the development of gene therapy for this terminal disease.
In addition to the 5k run and walk, the event includes various community activities at the park. Attendees can find food, a bake sale, and music on-site. There are also activities specifically for children, as well as an auction and raffle items available during the morning.
The race recognizes participants across several age categories, ranging from 1-14 to 70+. Awards are presented to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as the first, second, and third-place finishers in each specific age group. Registration includes a race shirt for those who sign up before the designated cut-off date. Packet pickup is organized at the park on the morning of the event.
