The Melissa Doise Hope for the Miracle
The Melissa Doise Hope for the Miracle is the 17th annual 5K breast cancer race and walk held in Jennings, Louisiana on Saturday, October 3, 2026. The event takes place at the JD Courthouse parking lot, 321 E. Plaquemine, Downtown Jennings, LA 70546.
The program includes two primary entries: a timed 5K run and an untimed 5K walk. Registration fees are reported as $30 for early registration and $35 for late or race-day registration. Only runners are timed; walkers participate without official timing. Awards are given to 1st and 2nd place male and female finishers in each age group. Age groups are 10 and under, 11–20, 21–30, 31–40, 41–50, 51–60, and 61 and over.
A closing ceremony will honor all breast cancer survivors. Participants are encouraged to wear pink and costumes are welcome. The stated mission is to assist those diagnosed with and battling breast cancer in Jeff Davis Parish. If the event is cancelled due to inclement weather, there will be no refunds. Participants who cannot attend on the event day are responsible for arranging pickup of any included event shirt or materials. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
