The First Blaze Trail Race 2026
The First Blaze Trail Race is a trail running event held on the Bruce Trail in the Milton area of Ontario. The competition offers three distinct distances that utilize technical terrain and various conservation areas including Kelso and Limehouse.
The event features the following distances:
- 51.8 km: A point-to-point race covering the entire Toronto section of the Bruce Trail. The course includes approximately 800m of elevation gain and has a 10-hour cutoff.
- 27.5 km: A point-to-point race starting at Sixth Line. It features technical rocky sections and the natural "Hole in the Wall" formation. It has an 8.5-hour cutoff.
- 10 km: An out-and-back course starting and finishing at Kelso Conservation Area, passing through Hilton Falls Conservation Area.
Participants navigate using the permanent white blazes of the Bruce Trail, as additional flagging is only provided for the final 5 km of the course. The terrain consists of single-track trails, boardwalks, stiles, and rocky technical segments. For the point-to-point distances (51.8 km and 27.5 km), shuttle buses transport runners from the finish line parking lot at Kelso to the starting locations.
Aid stations are positioned roughly every 8 to 12 km and are cup-less, requiring runners to carry their own hydration vessels. Registration is limited to a total of 200 participants across all distances. Each registration includes a donation to the Toronto Bruce Trail Club for trail maintenance.
